"What Are You Reading - August Edition"

It's August and while I'm wondering why summer is disappearing so quickly, I'm reminded that there have been quite a few good books I've read over the last few months. Granted, I've been on a paranormal romance/urban fantasy kick, but there have still been some great books in there.

I'm currently reading Connie Brockway's most recent historical. It came out in February I believe and I've had it on my shelf since then. I'm glad I waited to read it because it is the perfect summer historical. Connie's humor and voice are shining through and I found it very difficult to put the book down last night in order to sleep.

What are you reading?

Look at you keeping up the board!

Let's see. I've been reading a lot of Harlequin SuperRomances. I've also been reading a lot of Susan Mallery whose a comfort read to me. I read about half of Sarah Vowell's The Wordy Shipmates and put it aside to sneak in Sherrilyn Kenyon's Unleash the something or other. Wren's story. I'm not too into the animals or the Dream Hunters so this book and the next will be rough for me, but I keep plugging along.

I finished Wren's story and though I think parts were a little weak, I did end up enjoying it. I'm just starting Ravyn's story now. I borrow all these books for months on end when, in reality, it only takes me less than a day to read each book once I start. I'll try not to let my friend know that or she'll stop lending them to me. I'll have to check how much closer I am to Acheron's book now.

I skipped all but one Dream Hunter book but I may go back and read them. I have Acheron's book from the library but I predict it will take me weeks to even get around to reading it.

I've been reading a lot of urban fantasy lately. Not paranormal romance, just straight up urban fantasy. I think because it's darker and not romance I'm finding the character building and world building intriguing. It's fun to take a break from romance once in a while. I do have Susan Mallery's latest and three of Susan Gable's SuperRomances from the library. I think I have more than that, but those are the ones I need to read because there is a wait list at the library so no renewals allowed. I guess I can't do any housework this week then.

Oh, I have the third Susan Mallery book and Suzanne Brockmann on the kitchen table.

I'm reading The Dream Hunter, finished Ravyn's story last night. I want to get back into the Dark Hunters, less Were-Hunters and Dream Hunters. Oh, well, in time. At least I'm flying through them.

Dream Hunter was okay. I don't remember much of it except I had a harder time with the Dream Hunter books than the other books.

I've finished all the Susan Gable books I have. There's one I need to read still, her first one I think. The library has it so in so I'll be picking that up today. Now I'm rereading the only Dark Hunter book I own - Night Play. I do like Vane and it was great to read a book with a woman who is a size 18 as the heroine.

The last Susan Gable book I read was The Mommy Plan and I kind of wished it had been a different book because that one was so sad. I can't remember her first one. Is that the one with the mechanic? I actually do remember most of her books strangely. I mean, I know there aren't many, but some I read awhile ago.

The Mommy Plan was sad. I'm glad there was a happy ending, but it was so sad. I don't know what the first book entails since I just got it from the library. The Pregnancy Test was interesting. That one I do wish had been longer.

Right now I'm reading another vampire/urban fantasy book but I'm not really enjoying it so I'm not going to post the title or author. I'm thinking of reading Julie James' newest. For the life of me I can't recall the title, but I have it from the library and I want something contemporary and light for the weekend.

I finished The Dream Hunter. I'm confused because Chapter 20 took place like WAY before the book before this one, but according to the website I read it in order. Either way, I started The House at Riverton for bookclub. My goal is to read it within the next week so I can read frothy at the beach.
