"Must See TV"

The Husband has a new toy. He bought Windows Media Center and a whole mess of parts for the computer that I don't even pretend to understand. All I know is that as of Friday, we have the antenna hooked up to the computer and the computer hooked up to the TV. We can DVR shows, watch in HD (even tho the tv is about 15 years old). And we do it all via this lovely computer interface. I feel so 21st Century! LOL

Now that we can record more than one show at a time, we have sort of become TV gluttons, adding shows that we didn't watch due to conflicts or because they were on too late. Or too early. I figure we'll pare things down soon. But it got me wondering, now that I can record and watch more, what is important for me to see?

Right now, we don't have cable or satellite so it's local networks only. The Husband and I agree on the following shows:

Big Bang Theory
How I Met Your Mother
Two and a Half Men
Scrubs
CSI: NY
CSI - the original
Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles
This Old House Hour
Simpsons

I add to that list with these shows:
Castle - yay Nathan Fillion!
The Mentalist
Life
Bones
Dollhouse - mainly because it's Joss Whedon and he owns me
Supernatural (when CSI is a rerun)
The Legend of the Seeker - because I love the books by Terry Goodkind

The Husband also adds various home improvement shows and sports shows.

When I look at the list, I feel like we watch way too much TV. Make me feel more normal and share your Must See TV list.

Um, it's wrong for me to list all the tv I watch.

Favorites which the boy also watches with me:
Friday Night Lights
Bones
Scrubs

We also watch Grey's Anatomy together, but it's mostly to mock it.

He watches 24, Chuck, Life, Life on Mars by himself and an ungodly amount of sports and sports talk.

I watch Dexter, Secret Diaries of a Call Girl, The United States of Tara, Castle, The Mentalist, Dirty Jobs, Private Practice, My Boys and SUPERNATURAL my favorite guilty pleasure (without the guilt). I also have Best Week Ever on my Season Pass and watch the Top 20 when I can.

I watched all but the last 2 episodes of The L Word, but I'm giving up with 2 episodes left EVER. I also dabble with In Plain Sight in the summer. I'm not sure if I'll stick with it past Season 2. In the summer, I'll catch up on CSI, CSI: New York, or Criminal Minds. I like the blood and guts and mystery of it all (even though I'll never figure out the whodunnit part). I also want to check out The Unusuals. So far, I'm still watching Dollhouse, but I'm not that invested in it yet.

The only thing that makes it not as much tv as it seems is that a lot is on cable and those seasons are different than network tv. Plus, I don't watch repeats so there are big blocks of time when I don't watch anything.

If I'm cleaning or vegging, I'll watch the Food Network.

Then again, one of my hobbies is totally reading up on the tv industry. I stopped reading spoilers as much as I used to though.

It's not wrong. You just enjoy tv. Nothing wrong with that. I know if I miss any of the shows I listed, other than Bones and now Castle, I don't sweat it. But I do enjoy watching when I remember a show is on. With the DVR I wonder how long we'll have shows saved before we watch or delete them.

And I'm glad one of your hobbies is to read up on the tv industry. Who would keep me abreast of all that's happening if you didn't?

It is true when too many episodes build up there is a crazy anxiety to watch them all. That's why we stopped keeping The Daily Show and Jeopardy on our list. I have 4 Dexter episodes, but I'll watch those eventually. Technically, I know what's going to happen, but Jimmy Smits is so good.
