"The Heart's Haven - Favorites"

I'm having a crappy day. Turned down for two more jobs that I would have loved and the weather sucks and I'm just not in my happy place. So to find my happy place, I'm going to post more about The Heart's Haven.

I really did enjoy this book. And when I used to help run book discussions on another board, we would have all these posts about favorites. I'm going to compress it into one thread here.

Favorite Character - I really enjoyed Hallie as a main character, but it was Liv who totally stole my heart.

Favorite Scene - The skunk scene. It was just too funny and precious and so totally something one of my relatives would do.

Favorite Quote - "You can sleep in the chair." p227

I'm sure there are more favorites so please add on!

I used to know this book very well, but it's been awhile since I've read it. I mean, I have the memory of a gnat. The only reason I sort of know Dreaming is because I've read it every year since like college. Still, it's been awhile since I reread that one, too.

I know I felt this book is overlooked a lot, and I thought it was a lot of fun with a great location. I (as always) loved the kids and animals and the playfulness and friendship of the characters. I mean, they were at odds, but underneath everything, they did care for each other. I do wish I saw more of the aunt (it was an aunt, right?).

I did enjoy the book and wonder why it's not talked about more. I do love the location and the unique careers that were depicted and discussed in the book.

There is an aunt in the book, April. Kit's aunt. And yes, it would have been nice to see more of her. She was so formidable and yet lovable. A very strong character.

I think I'm going to read Surrender A Dream next. I know it's still February, but I'm itching to read a new-to-me JB novel!
