Well, I'm finished and I wish I had taken notes while reading.
It was a cute story and a solid read so I was happy. I loved the setting. And I think setting the book during the SF fires was a great use of history in the plot. I was sort of hoping the book took place more on the boat, but the characters and the plot took me on enough of a ride that I forgot that I wanted more of the boat.
I wish we saw more of Maddie. She had that bigger than life personality that added comic relief and great insight. I adore characters like that. I also loved the twins. Children in books can be hit or miss, but they were adorable and gave to the story rather than detracted from it.
Liv and her cat. The twins and their skunk. Liv and her melt down (poor girl). Yes, the children in HH were very well drawn. They gave some great moments and their actions/thoughts played well with the conflicts of the adults.
Hallie and Kit were wonderful together. I do love a marriage of necessity or convenience story and this fit the bill without being overly dramatic. And it made sense that they had to grow into marriage rather than be all trusting and in love right away. I was happy to join them on that journey. And poor Kit. I felt so bad for his first wife and for him, and am glad that there were some revelations toward the end that allowed him to heal and move on.
Over all, this was a good story. Now...to discuss.
