"New historical romances"
| |
Well, I was going to post this when the new website was done, but it's been delayed until the beginning of the year because of photo copyrights, which are sending us back to the search engines. Here's my news: I'm almost done with a medieval historical romance, part of a number of books I will be doing about a family of sisters. This is the first and the oldest one, named Glenna, since the books are set in medieval Scotland, and I think those of you who have been asking for another historical will be very happy. I cannot tell you how much fun it has been to write this book. It feels lovely and like old times. Glenna is quite the handful and the hero desperately needs redeeming. And then there's her dog... I will be starting the second book during the upcoming holidays. As for pub dates, I will have a better idea next summer. Best,

No contemporaries novels are scheduled at this time. The books take me so long to write that it's difficult to publish them in this marketplace, where everyone wants multiple books a year for the publisher to get behind the books and publish them adequately well. The only contemporary stories I want to write are the complex ones, like The Days of Summer, and I cannot write or tell those complex contemporary storylines at the rate of one, two, three or four a year. At least not at this time. While I have plenty of ideas for more contemporary books, I'm doing these historicals--the central idea is just too good to pass up--and they are coming to me like gifts from God. I get emails every week asking me when I will give readers another historical. Well...I'm giving, and having a great time doing it. I expect to post an excerpt on these books next year sometime, closer to the pub dates--April can choose not to read them! I expect there will be contemps in the future, but not at this time. JB

Woo hoo! Thank you! That'd be great! As soon as I know the name and publisher,I'll pre-order through my bookseller friend!I'm ambivalent about the excepts... I may not want to read them, because if I DID read them, I'd want to read the whole book. Very exciting news!!! YH |

I've loved all your books, but I have to admit your historicals hold a special place in my heart. >No contemporaries novels are scheduled at this time. I gotta say I'm glad you're sticking to 'quality' over 'quantity'. Too many really talented authors have became very side-tracked with putting out multiple novels a year, and (at least to me) their work suffers for it. When I find a really good author, I'm as bad as the next reader at wanting that next book to hurry up and come out, or posting online that I can't wait for the next book in a series. But the truth is I can wait, if it's going to mean the difference between a well written, complex, entertaining story , or a rushed, badly written story put out just for the sake of catching up buyers while that writer is hot. For your writing, I'm willing to wait a little longer between books, because it means a great read and a book I'm going to hang onto and re-read over the years. >I expect to post an excerpt on these books next year >sometime, closer to the pub dates--April can choose not to >read them! >JB
How exciting! I love excerpts of upcoming books. And Sisters, that's gonna be great. I really like the name Glenna, too. It's feminine, pretty, but also strong, traditional. And you've really peaked my curiosity about the dog. I loved the dog in Just a Kiss Away (I can't believe I'm blanking on his name). Thanks so much for wetting our appetites, and I can't wait till the book is out--- no wait, I can wait, because I know it's worth waiting for :> Andura

Hi Kim, You can tell them... Kim has seen the initial rough art graphics for the new books on the upcoming website. Unfortunately, the actual book graphics will not be up until next fall, but they are amazing and the new site will come up when its interactives are ready. A new face here for new books. What fun! JB
